JOB TITLE: NOLS Wilderness Medicine Marketing Coordinator 

REPORTS TO: NOLS Wilderness Medicine Assistant Director

JOB OBJECTIVE: The NOLS Wilderness Medicine Marketing Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing all elements of the NOLS Wilderness Medicine marketing plan, including customer relations, social media management, digital marketing, website, print pieces, conferences, mailings, and media relations. They work closely with the NOLS Marketing team.

QUALIFICATIONS: Marketing-related degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational, collaborative, and coalition-building skills are a plus; the ability to prioritize and problem solve is essential. Experience or willingness to learn the necessary computer applications to perform the job is required including NOLS database applications, Google applications, Facebook Business Manager, and HubSpot marketing automation platform. Some travel is expected.

LEADERSHIP OR SUPERVISORY DUTIES: This person represents NOLS Wilderness Medicine to external audiences in person and in communications. Additionally, this person functions as both a subject matter expert and project manager for marketing projects being fulfilled internally.

FUNDS AND/OR PROPERTY: Manages the NOLS Wilderness Medicine advertising budget; responsible for a NOLS credit card.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

40% - Oversee NOLS Wilderness Medicine’s digital marketing plan including: building ads, tracking performance, managing campaigns, and responding to comments on a variety of platforms, including:

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • LinkedIn
  • Twitter
  • External partner event lists

20% - Write content to support the NOLS Wilderness Medicine story. This includes content for the NOLS blog, The Scenario (the Wilderness Medicine e-newsletter), The Leader (the NOLS Alumni publication), and additional needs for content as they develop.

10% - Coordinate and develop new print, image, and video content needed to support NOLS Wilderness Medicine programs. Update and edit content on the NOLS website.

10% - Select and manage events NOLS Wilderness Medicine will attend.  Coordinate and support all conferences, tradeshows, alumni reunions, special events, and exhibits. Develop and submit conference presentation proposals and workshops. Update and maintain event support tools and resources. Coordinate events with all relevant NOLS departments. Some travel and conference representation is required.

10% - Provide support to students and new sponsors contacting NOLS Wilderness Medicine. This involves working with both the NOLS Wilderness Medicine Admissions team and the NOLS Wilderness Medicine Program team on a daily basis answering phones, email, live chat, and in-person inquiries and developing marketing kits for course sponsors.

5% - Coordinate and develop press releases, requests for images, interviews, and other media relations. Schedule and send mailings (mail and email). Support general requests for in-house graphics. Respond to external requests for materials and presentations.

5% - Other projects as assigned.
