JOB TITLE: NOLS Expedition Faculty Summit Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Expedition Curriculum Manager
JOB OBJECTIVE: Coordinate planning and execution of the annual NOLS Expedition Faculty Summit meeting.
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be highly organized and able to direct the Expedition Faculty Summit Steering Committee members in the completion of assigned tasks. Must be proficient with computer systems used to manage logistics and account for financial records. Attention to detail is a must, especially regarding database entries. Must possess the ability to work independently and proactively within the larger department and the school. Preferred experience as NOLS field instructor with a consistent record of strong field performance.
LEADERSHIP OR SUPERVISORY DUTIES: Be able to advertise for and then select and supervise an intern. Supervise additional interns from other departments who are recruited to help during the Summit.
FUNDS AND/OR PROPERTY: Manage Expedition Faculty Summit budget of $50,000. Contract with conference center and caterers. Arrange travel and lodging for speakers.
- Responsible for leading the overall design and management of Expedition Faculty Summit including:
- Providing leadership to the Summit Committee to set Summit agenda to maximize the attendee experience.
- Collaborate with Expedition Faculty Summit Educational Chair to create the agenda.
- Responsible for overall conference management including programming, advertising/marketing, enrollment, and logistics.
- Directly supervise the Expedition Faculty Summit intern.
- Enlist logistical support assistance from interns in other NOLS departments.
- Provide leadership during the Summit to ensure successful event.
FIELD WORK: This is a half-time position in the office (NOLS World Headquarters). It can be combined with the Wilderness Risk Management Conference (WRMC) Coordinator position to create a full-time position.
For NOLS Faculty Only: This position can be used to create a salaried faculty position when paired with field work or other NOLS departments. Field work is primarily out of NOLS Rocky Mountain.
