About the expedition

The McCombs Business Honors Leadership Expedition is an 8-day, field-based training for Business Honors Program (BHP) students from the McCombs School of Business. This action-based leadership practicum takes you out of the classroom and immerses you in the unscripted wilderness context. Here, your decisions have real consequences and collaboration with your peers becomes paramount. Each day you will have the opportunity to exercise individual decisiveness, while simultaneously facilitating effective teamwork amongst your peers - skills relevant in your work as a student of business and in today's economy.

This expedition will take you through one of the most spectacular landscapes in southern Arizona - rugged "sky-island" country with breathtaking vistas of sinuous ravines and high snow-capped peaks. On a daily basis your group will travel to a new location while navigating through this austere classroom. You will test new facets of your endurance and resilience, whether on long days navigating across open plateaus of ocotillo and saguaro cactus or on high ridges of scrub oak and ponderosa pine. You will reimagine entertainment as sunrises and sunsets become spectacular celebrations of color, bookending the clearest blanket of starlight you may ever sleep beneath.
