JOB TITLE: NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute Student Services Representative

REPORTS TO: Wilderness Medicine Institute (WMI) Registrar

JOB OBJECTIVE: The WMI Student Services Representative serves as a first point of contact for all inquiries to WMI via phone, e-mail or personal visits.  This person is responsible for answering telephone and email inquiries in a professional, friendly, and efficient manner. The Student Services Representative also supports the WMI Admissions Team with data entry, in addition to providing general administrative support. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to present a vibrant, positive and helpful attitude to inquiries, whether in person, email or over the phone.  Must be proficient on a keyboard and familiar with computer systems.  Must possess the ability to work independently and proactively within the larger WMI organization. The Student Services Representative must be comfortable managing critical detail amidst a busy work environment. 

LEADERSHIP OR SUPERVISORY DUTIES: Provides a first impression to the general public. Must be able to prioritize daily job tasks and recognize when additional support is needed.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • 45% - Customer Service. Acts as the primary point of contact for WMI to the public. Answers and provides information in response to telephone, mail and email inquiries including registration and enrollment, certification, card replacement, verification letters and frequently asked questions. Forwards calls and e-mails appropriately.  Should be able to answer the majority of student questions regarding wilderness medicine training and certification without assistance.  Answers wmi@nols.edu email and acts as "primary" on the phone. 
  • 45% - Administrative Support. Provides data entry support for the WMI Admissions Teams-processes and produces certification cards for one course roster per day. Provides office administrative tasks including printing, copying, mailing, data entry, flyer/poster production, sponsor packets, web research, database searches, mail and fax distribution, ordering and stocking office supplies and filing. 
  • 5% - Acts as the assistant to the WMI Management team. 
  • 5% - Other duties as assigned. 

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: A criminal background check is required of all NOLS employees. 

E-VERIFY: NOLS participates in E-verify.
