This session will endeavor to make some practical sense out of the medicine that many of us are called upon to deliver in unconventional settings, far from organized help. Two major foci will be:

1. Look at new and oldtechnologies and proceduresthat can have an impact on wilderness medical care.

2.Revisit somecommon problems that posedifficult management dilemmas in the field.

Mike and David are uniquely qualified to discuss a wide range of topics. They bring years of experience as backcountry travelers and patient caregivers. As a team, they will also be able to address issues unique to Canada and the United States. Please come prepared to challenge them with the questions whose answers have eluded you for years.
