Join us for a true wilderness expedition in the Greater Yellowstone Area. Designed for young members and their guests, the NOLS Yellowstone Club Leadership Expedition is the opportunity of a lifetime.
For the entire 9 days of your course, your mode of travel will be your own two feet. You’ll be lead by NOLS Instructors who specialize in teaching young adults.
We encourage students to make real decisions with real consequences, and we facilitate feedback through in-depth debriefs, which create life-long learners. You will gain independence and take responsibility for yourself and your companions. You will also have time to reflect, hang out with your new friends, catch glimpses of wildlife, enjoy spectacular sunsets, and maybe even learn to fly fish.
When you get home, you’ll have the skills to enjoy outdoor activities on your own and the leadership qualities to help you step it up in the classroom, on the playing fields, or anywhere you want to succeed.
NOLS courses are challenging both physically and emotionally. You will have some long days carrying a backpack weighing 30-50 lbs. You will put up your own tent, cook your own meals with your peers, and learn to take care of yourself and your expedition mates. You will also have time to reflect, hang out with your new friends, learn to fly fish, catch glimpses of wildlife and enjoy spectacular sunsets.
Our best students are those who set out to have fun, are excited about learning, and are willing to be flexible with the inevitable surprises and challenges of an expedition. It is amazing how fast you get to know your expedition mates and how tightly these bonds hold through the days and weeks.
After your course, you might not remember those hard days of hiking, but you will remember your friends and how much fun you had. Having fun, learning outdoor skills, fly fishing, exploring and achieving—your summer adventure with NOLS is about to begin!
