7- to 30-day Faculty

NOLS Professional Training expedition faculty are among the most highly trained wilderness educators in the world.

We carefully screen applicants and, once selected, they take our 35-day Instructor Course. The top graduates then apprentice a course and, if they are successful, become certified NOLS instructors.

Approximately half of our instructors have at least 3 years of full time NOLS instructing experience. The NOLS minimum first aid requirement to work as an instructor is a Wilderness First Responder (a 72 hour course), or equivalent, and yearly CPR certification.
