The Master educator course is an extensive, five-day field course designed to train educators and others ways to practice and teach Leave No Trace skills and ethics. The Master Course provides participants with a comprehensive overview of Leave No Trace techniques through practical application in a field setting. |

Cancellation Policies
To enroll, a completed application and a $100 non-refundable deposit are required. The balance of tuition is due 45 days prior to the course start date.
If you cancel your enrollment on a course for any reason, you will receive a refund as specified below:
1. 45 days before the course starting date or earlier, NOLS will retain the $100 deposit.
2. Between 30-44 days prior to the course starting date, NOLS will retain 25% of the course tuition.
3. Between 15-29 days prior to the course starting date, NOLS will retain 50% of the course tuition.
4. Less than 15 days prior to the course starting date, and once the course has begun, there will be no refunds.
If you transfer from one course to another:
- 45 or more days prior to the course starting date, there will be a $25 processing fee.
- 44 days or fewer to the course starting date, regular cancellation policies will apply.
- You are allowed one course transfer only.
Leave No Trace Master Educator Courses through Affiliate Programs
NOLS is proud to offer Leave No Trace Master Educator courses through a group of highly qualified Affiliate organizations. These courses will provide you the same fully qualified, professional instructor that you would on a NOLS Master Educator Course. Affiliate courses allow Master Educator courses to be offered in broader geographic areas.
When enrolling on an Affiliate LNT Master Educator course, you are working directly with the Affiliate organization. All course enrollment and cancellations are handled through the Affiliate organization. Course cancellation and prices are unique to each organization, so check enrollment policies and deadlines with the Affiliate organization.
Affiliate organizations and their agents and employees are, independent contractors, and are not employees or agents of NOLS or the LNT Center for Outdoor Education (The Center). Neither NOLS nor The Center will in any way direct the conduct of the Affiliate Courses, and neither NOLS and the Center nor Affiliate are acting as agents for each other. Neither NOLS and the Center nor Affiliate has the authority to bind or act for the other, or to assume each other’s obligations or liabilities.
Scholarships
Scholarships for Leave No Trace Master Educator courses are offered to applicants who demonstrate their ability to effectively reach large numbers of individuals with the Leave No Trace message.
Strongest consideration will be given to applicants who have outdoor education teaching experience and have show a willingness to further their own Leave No Trace training.
Scholarship recipients are expected to conduct Leave No Trace Trainer courses and Awareness Workshops regularly, and to consistently report on such courses to the Center for Outdoor Ethics.

College Credit
Participants on NOLS Master Educator Courses can earn 2 hours of College Credit from the University of Utah Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism. Details are available from the NOLS Leave No Trace office. This optional college credit is available for an additional $60.00 per semester hour.
Custom/Contract Courses
If there are no courses offered in your geographic area, NOLS can design a custom or contract course to meet your needs. This can be a great way for organizations to train their staff at substantial cost savings. Contact the NOLS Leave No Trace office for details:
