Tuition at any school involves a significant commitment. NOLS offers several options to help defray the impact of these expenses.

Scholarship Programs
Each year, NOLS offers over $1,000,000 in scholarship assistance. Scholarship aid is available to any applicants who show great potential to excel as NOLS students and who would be unable to attend without financial aid. Typical awards range from $500 to $4,500.

Though there is no specific application deadline, NOLS scholarship funds are limited and are awarded on a first come, first served basis.

NOLS also collaborates with other organizations to provide scholarship opportunities. Find more scholarship and application information here.

Veteran Benefits
NOLS and WMI are approved for veterans’ benefits according to Title 38, United States Code. Only courses based out of Wyoming are eligible for approval through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. For further information on utilizing your VA Benefits for a NOLS course, click here.

529 College Savings Plan
Students can enroll in NOLS courses with the assistance of a 529 College Savings Plan. An Agreement with Western State Colorado University allow students to use 529 Plan funds for NOLS courses and earn WSCU credit. Find further information on using a 529 College Savings Plan on a NOLS course here.

AmeriCorps Stipends
Students can attend NOLS with the assistance of an AmeriCorps stipend. Agreements with Central Wyoming College (CWC) and Western State Colorado University (WSCU) allow AmeriCorps participants to use their educational stipends for NOLS courses and receive college credit.

Find further information on receiving college credit from CWC and using an AmeriCorp stipend on a NOLS course here.

Federal Financial Aid
NOLS offers two options for students to access federal financial aid for which they are eligible: consortium agreements and through Central Wyoming College (CWC).

Students who are in a degree program at a college that grants credit for a NOLS semester may be able to utilize federal loans and grants through a consortium agreement between NOLS and their home college.

NOLS and CWC have partnered to offer an Environmental Science and Leadership degree and an Outdoor Education and Leadership degree. CWC will process federal financial aid for students who are enrolled in NOLS courses and are pursuing a degree in Environmental Science and Leadership or Outdoor Education and Leadership.
