Education & Outreach
We believe that education should be exciting, fun, and challenging. Our instructors are committed to inspiring students to explore and develop their understanding of wilderness ethics, leadership, teamwork, natural history, and technical skills.
As a community, we value diversity, integrity, and personal responsibility while recognizing that our strength lies in teamwork and commitment to our mission and each other.
These values move us to act beyond our backcountry classrooms. Transferring knowledge and experiences to the frontcountry can be one of the more challenging and rewarding parts of a NOLS course. Service projects, community involvement, and local partnerships allow students and staff to act on the values they have developed during their time in the field and to share that ethic with others.
- The Student Experience: Service projects and other ways we incorporate stewardship and sustainability into courses
- Community Outreach & Partnerships: Events we’re involved in and organizations we work with to promote and support stewardship and sustainability in our communities
