Recycling

Whitehorse has a state of the art recycling center, and we bring all possible recyclables here.

Minimizing Impact

We’ve been proactive in teaching Leave No Trace outdoor ethics in the community to a number of different audiences like local outfitters and youth leaders.
With the help of our landlord, we are working to switch lighting to more efficient bulbs.
Building enclosed office/work space at the branch lessens the area we need to heat.
Researching Biodegradable bags to replace rations food bags. The end goal is to have every food bag be able to be composted at the end of NOLS courses instead of going to the landfill.
Working with local Yukon guiding companies to offer LNT courses for guides within the region so that we as an industry can lesson our impact on our outdoor classrooms.

Transportation

Carpooling and efficiency in transportation is part of our “office culture” at NOLS Yukon.
