Salmon River Rafting

Your classroom for this 40 and older expedition is the wild and scenic Main Salmon River, which drops 1,200 feet in 89 miles to create some of the most exciting whitewater in the West. This is the largest road-less wilderness in the lower 48, and it will be your home as you navigate its blue-green waters in rafts and oar rigs.  This isn't a guided trip—you'll learn our core river curriculum, including paddle strokes, guiding and swift-water rescue techniques, but you'll also learn how to cook a delicious meal in the backcountry, and practice Leave No Trace wilderness ethics.

This is a great learning adventure for adults interested in everything from how to tie a knot when loading a boat, to managing a line through a rapid and changing your leadership style to fit the situation at hand. This course will give you the skills and judgement to run rivers, whether you want to someday own a raft or just seek a fun adventure that will give you a chance to see some of the West's wild country up close.
