Welcome to the NOLS Fall Semester in the Rockies (FSR) expedition log! This site features one of the twelve NOLS FSR sections that was in the field during 2000. See digital photographs, student and instructor journals and other information. Be sure to check out this feature if you are curious about exploring what goes on during a NOLS course. This information is the next best thing to being out in the backcountry yourself.
All NOLS Semesters in the Rockies embark on 90 day wilderness expeditions that are designed to enhance leadership and wilderness skills. Semester students custom design their semester by choosing from a variety of semester options including: Wilderness Travel, Mountaineering, Rock Climbing, Caving, Horsepacking, River Travel, Winter Camping and Skiing, Canyon, and Wilderness First Responder (WFR).

This particular semester, section 8, includes four backcountry sections: River Travel, Climbing, Canyon, and Winter. In addition, there is a Wilderness First Aid component prior to the river section.
