January Term Courses
Students from colleges across the country come to NOLS each
year for their school's January Term. Jan Term at NOLS provides
an opportunity to spend a month freed from the confines of the
classroom, involved in hands-on education dictated by reality,
not a syllabus.
With NOLS' focus on wilderness skills and leadership,
you'll return to campus for the spring semester with skills
that will enhance your life in and out of the classroom.

Skiing
Whether you love winter or seek the thrill and solitude of skiing in the backcountry, this course will teach you how to live in a world of snow. |

Teton Valley Winter Oudoor Educator
Designed for practicing and aspiring winter educators, this course gives you the skills to teach in any winter wilderness. |

Snowboarding
After a day of snowboarding instruction at Grand Targhee Resort, you’ll head out into the backcountry of the Snake River Range. |

Baja Sea Kayaking
A Baja sea kayaking expedition is an immersion in culture, land, water and sky. It provides you with an opportunity for learning in a setting unmatched by anything in the world. |

Baja Coastal Sailing
A NOLS sailing course will get you well on your way to sailing on your own. We use a unique little boat to explore the coastline of the Baja California Peninsula. |

Wilderness EMT
This month-long intensive program combines wilderness medicine with urban medical care practices, including time at a hospital and in an ambulance. |

Southwest Outdoor Educator
Are you an active or aspiring outdoor educator? If so, we’ve designed this course for you. This is your opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for teaching and leading field-based wilderness education programs. |
