AmeriCorps Education Award

Students wishing to attend NOLS with the assistance of an AmeriCorps stipend may do so. An agreement with Central Wyoming College (CWC) allows AmeriCorps participants to receive CWC credit and use their educational stipends for NOLS courses.

The AmeriCorps Education Award may be put toward any NOLS course, even if the course begins shortly after AmeriCorps service is concluded. In this case, the student’s AmeriCorps supervisor should send a letter or email to the NOLS financial aid advisor stating when service will be completed and the amount of the educational award the student is eligible to receive, upon successful completion of service.

1. Please Note: NOLS may ask the student to pay tuition prior to the course start date. The student will receive reimbursement after the AmeriCorps award has been processed by CWC.

Students must pay tuition and fees per credit hour at CWC, which will retain that cost from the AmeriCorps award. Most NOLS courses are either four or 12 credits. Click here for the current listing of CWC tuition and fees.

Applying

1. Apply to NOLS
   • Be sure to tell your NOLS admissions officer you have an AmeriCorps award.
2. Apply to CWC here: http://web.cwc.edu/admissions/applying
   • On the application, identify your planned course of study as Outdoor Education and Leadership.
   • CWC will notify the NOLS registrar when your application has been received.
   • To finalize your registration, the NOLS registrar will send details of your NOLS course, such as duration and tuition, to CWC.
3. Send your completed AmeriCorps voucher to the CWC business office at the following address:

1. CWC will submit your voucher to the U.S. Government for payment 10-14 days before your course begins.
2. CWC will retain the cost for tuition and fees for your course and forward the remainder to NOLS.
