Nora Kratz

Nora Kratz

Position at NOLS: NOLS Bus Marketing Representative

NOLS Course: Alaska Prince William Sound Sea Kayaking (2002)

The beginning of Summer 2006 marked a changing of the guard on the NOLS Bus. With Amy on her IC and Zandy working courses in PNW, Curtis has been left to ready the bus for the summer season of marketing events. Recently, he was joined by Nora Kratz, the newest addition to the road.

Born and raised in Lander, Nora is definitely not new to NOLS. Her mom worked 18 years in the NOLS Finance Department and her brother has worked at our computer help desk, as a marketing rep, and as a grease mechanic on the bus about a year ago. Nora, even, has been putting in time with NOLS since she was a junior in high school as a Jane of all trades: illustrator for curriculum, intern in Operations, mailroom extraordinaire, and NOLS Pro admin assistant. She brings a comprehensive understanding of NOLS to the big rig.

You’ll see Nora on the bus for at least eight months. After that, only time will tell. Maybe med school, maybe her IC, maybe following her passion in the fine arts. But for now, she is content to be where she can make a difference for NOLS. “I care about NOLS and like to meet people and tell them about the outdoors,” she says. “The bus is a fun adventure and a great way to see the country.”

A biology major from Lewis & Clark College, this in one NOLSie with a travel bug so she fits right in on the bus. From Thailand to India and Kenya to Switzerland, she is a wanderer with the lust to see new places. While going to college in Oregon, she even took her first hobo vacation with her brother by hopping a train from Portland to Eugene. “I would hop trains more often if only I had the time,” she quips. Until then, a cross- country bus tour should suffice!

Sea kayaking in Alaska takes you up close to everything from giant icebergs to the most intact temperate rain forests on the planet.
