Jared Pangretic

Jess Blount

Position at NOLS: NOLS Bus Marketing Representative
NOLS Course: Baja Sea Kayaking, 2008

It’s one thing to say you want to live in the moment. Combine the ability to make good on that claim with a 38-foot vegetable oil and solar powered bus and you’ll find Jared Pangretic, the latest addition to the bus crew. Determination and enthusiasm in tow, Jared states, “I’m fascinated to learn as much as I can throughout our travels while having as much fun as possible.”

Jared just joined the bus in May 2008, but his high-energy style has a resume to match. His recent roots trace back to Michigan where Jared graduated from Central Michigan University in December 2007. A man who slings his Marketing and Advertising degrees with the best of them, Jared is excited to put his skills to the test.

Jared’s first NOLS experience came in January of 2008 when he embarked on a Baja Sea Kayaking course. Despite having no prior experience, he fully immersed himself in the sea kayak lifestyle and excelled. “I had never kayaked on open water before and it was incredible. Paddling in bioluminescence is an experience I will never forget.” Following his course, Jared caught wind of an internship at NOLS Rocky Mountain and dove in head first to gain some more hands-on experience with the school. Not only did he gain crucial marketing and operations skills, he also discovered his affinity for the NOLS community.

Jared admits he feels right at home here. Bus visitors will immediately notice his high level of energy and tenacious work ethic. “I’m stoked to be on the front lines, personally seeing people’s excitement for the bus and NOLS,” says Jared. “It’s awesome to be a part of something so continually compelling.”

During his time as a NOLS road warrior, Jared also hopes to knock off a few of personal goals. “Other than traveling to areas I wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to see, I’d like to try my hand at surfing, catch some live music and climb in every state we hit,” comments Jared. “So far, the climbing mission is going well.” Pull some rock for us all Jared, and welcome aboard.
