The NOLS Bus Sponsors
Exclusively sponsored by Stonyfield Farm
The NOLS Bus isn’t headed out to pasture, but it is going down to the farm. Stonyfield Farm, that is. A new partnership between the non-profit National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and the environmentally conscious organic yogurt company will be the driving force behind the “Creating A Climate For Change” tour.
The “Creating A Climate For Change” campaign incorporates NOLS’ skills and leadership education with Stonyfield Farm’s organic yogurt and milk products and environmental mission. “This is an excellent partnership between two outstanding organizations,” says Gary Hirshberg, Stonyfield Farm President and CE-Yo. “Stonyfield Farm and NOLS share a number of values, including a strong environmental ethic and a belief in the power of education to create change.”
“The ‘Creating a Climate for Change’ tour is the ideal marketing campaign and Stonyfield Farm is the perfect partner,” said NOLS Marketing Director Bruce Palmer. “NOLS is the leading wilderness educator in the world. Our graduates have experienced our planet’s power and beauty, and they understand its fragility. They are skilled positive leaders with an environmental awareness and a strong ethical foundation.
Stonyfield Farm is leading a revolution in American business, demonstrating that sustainable business practices aren’t just a theory, they are practical and profitable. This tour is extending both organizations’ brands while educating the public about the greatest environmental threat of our lifetime—climate change.”
Adds Hirshberg: “The burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and other human activities have had an adverse effect on the Earth’s climate, with the warming trend threatening our very existence. We believe we can find solutions and encourage a massive effort to curb global warming. Part of this effort is educating NOLS Bus visitors about the need to restore and protect the Earth, for ourselves and future generations.”
Since 1983, Stonyfield Farm has pioneered responsible business practices and been involved in many projects that have a positive social and environmental impact. The first US manufacturer to offset 100% of its CO2 emissions, Stonyfield gives 10 percent of its profits to organizations that have taken Earth-friendly initiatives, offsets global warming emissions with investments in tree planting and energy efficiency, and supports organic agriculture, keeping toxic persistent pesticides and chemical fertilizers from contaminating our land and water.
In addition, Stonyfield Farm supports family farmers who pledge not to use synthetic growth hormones on their cows and offers incentives to conventional dairy farmers converting to organic production. Now the largest organic yogurt maker in the world, Stonyfield Farm continues to focus its mission on healthy food, healthy people and a healthy planet.
