Alumni Keelboat Sailing
in the British Virgin Islands
Learn the art of keelboat sailing on this Alumni trip offering. The waters of the British Virgin Islands will be home for 8-days of learning to cruise.
The curriculum is the same as a NOLS semester sailing section and will focus extensively on sailing and living aboard mid-sized (36+/- ft) cruisers. You'll learn charts, navigation, seamanship and boat handling while being expected to cook meals and rotate through the various crew positions.
Participants who have "Competent Crew" certification can, with pre-trip homework, progress to the "Day Skipper" level on this trip. Experienced sailors can, with extensive pre-trip effort and completion of applicable workbooks, receive both "Competent Crew" and "Day Skipper" certifications.
You'll enjoy the striking scenery of the British Virgin Islands while sharing quarters with a few other participants and NOLS instructors. After this trip, you should feel confident in your ability to sail with an experienced crew.
