Alumni Rep Activities

Here are some things you can do as an Alumni Rep to get the word out about NOLS.

Give a NOLS Presentation
Give a NOLS presentation at your school or within your community. Let us know when your event will be and we'll post your event on the NOLS On The Road web site. We'll also send you the following materials to set you up for success:

• A 10-minute NOLS video
• Catalogs, stickers, tear-off posters
• Posters to promote your event

Here on this site, you can find message points to help you answer questions and a slideshow (pdf) to play during your presentation.

Show Off the NOLS Materials
Simply leave the NOLS catalog on your coffee table. It will spark a conversation.

Create a Photo Album
Sharing your photos is a great way to educate others about NOLS. Tag your photos with “NOLS” on Flickr, Shutterfly or other online photosharing sites.

Spread the Word Online
Blogging is a great way to share your experiences and generate some buzz for NOLS. Post to appropriate message boards. Add a link from your website to the NOLS site. NOLS web banners are available.

Reach Out to an Enrollee: Join a NOLS Yahoo Group
New students love to hear from grads. This is a great venue to pass on words of wisdom. Let us know if you're interested in participating!

Help with Recruiting
Drop off catalogs and posters at a high school or department on campus, host an info table, give a presentation about your course, be a NOLS Bus Street Team member, or let us know about an event that you think NOLS should attend.

Locate possible recruiting events in your area and contact us. Email the Alumni Representative Program at alumni_reps@nols.edu.

Start Your Own NOLS Network
Coordinate a volunteer NOLS group on your campus or in your community in which prospective students can participate. Plan outings, reunions, slide shows, etc.

Recruit a Preferred Retailer
NOLS is looking for retailers who are interested in displaying NOLS literature as well as helping to outfit our students for courses. Connect with the store manager and pass the info along to the NOLS Word of Mouth Coordinator in the Marketing Department.

Wear your NOLS “colors”
NOLS stickers, posters, tee shirts, water bottles and more are available at the NOLS online store.

Visit the NOLS Bus
See the NOLS Bus for yourself when it comes to your area. Don’t forget to invite your friends and family to join you!

Be Creative
There are many ways to spread the word about NOLS. Think up your own word of mouth activities. Don’t forget to contact the NOLS Word of Mouth Coordinator for materials and to tell us your ideas for spreading the NOLS word!
