Pacific Northwest Alumni and Friends Chapter
What is the Pacific Northwest NOLS Alumni and Friends Chapter?
The Pacific Northwest NOLS Alumni and Friends Chapter represents
a growing group of NOLS friends and alumni centered in the
Seattle metropolitan area. We are committed to providing
all outdoor enthusiasts, NOLS alumni and non-alumni alike,
opportunities to get together and share their common interests
in the mountains and seas of the Great Northwest. We have
a calendar of events and
all are invited to join us for activities that range from
sailing trips, kayaking adventures, and mountain climbs,
to speaking events, and fundraisers. To stay tuned to this group,
subscribe to the two local electronic list
services.
The Pacific Northwest NOLS Alumni and Friends Chapter has
organized itself to bring you these events and to make a
positive impact on our community. The mission of the Pacific
Northwest NOLS Alumni and Friends Chapter is to:
- Build the NOLS PNW community of friends
and alumni
- Develop the NOLS PNW community through events
- Enhance the NOLS PNW community through
fundraising efforts and local scholarships
Whether you are a seasoned NOLS alumni or someone
interested in meeting other people with a common interest
in wilderness experience, join us!
How is the Pacific Northwest NOLS Alumni and Friends Chapter organized?
There
are three groups that make up the Chapter: Membership, Events, and Fundraising.
Membership
The objective of the Membership Committee is to reach out to the friends and
alumni of NOLS in the Pacific Northwest, and to work with NOLS headquarters
to create a current and accurate database. Ultimately we want to create a
more effective mechanism for the Chapter to inform interested parties about
events and activities.
Events
The objective of the Events Committee is to organize a diverse array of compelling
activities that provide friends and alumni the opportunity to get together
- and the NOLS PNW community to grow. Events vary from outdoor oriented activities
such as sailing, kayaking, mountain climbs, and evening hikes, to more indoor
oriented events such as speakers and presentations, and climbing gym parties.

Fundraising
The objective of the Fundraising Committee is to provide an opportunity for
interested friends and alumni to contribute financially to the improvement
of our community. These funds will go to a local scholarship endowment, PNW
branch improvements, and other NOLS fundraising campaigns.
