David Jones graduated from a Wind River Mountaineering course in 1978. But it wasn’t until five years ago that the Seattle-based businessman reestablished a connection to his outdoor alma-mater. Since then, Jones has more than made up for lost time.
Jones, who worked as a mountain guide in the late 70s and 80s, has been a driving force behind the Pacific Northwest NOLS alumni community—helping organize local scholar-ships, networking with regional contacts, and getting influential people into the field with NOLS, including Gary Locke, former Washington State Governor. As a NOLS graduate and former advisory council co-chair, Jones is a tireless and adaptable ambassador for the school.
The managing partner of Altus Alliance, a venture consulting firm, Jones helps develop new ideas into profitable and sustainable businesses. He’s also a private pilot and an avid alpine and telemark skier. And he continues to serve NOLS as a member of the NOLS Advisory Council and steering committee of NOLS’ International Base Camp Capital Campaign.
