Our most recent successfully completed campaign!

We are pleased to announce that we have met Mr. Hansjörg Wyss' challenge to raise $1.5 million with help from alumni, family, staff and the greater NOLS community. By mid-November, we exceed the goal by over $33,000. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our newest classroom!

The dedication of the new Wyss Wilderness Medicine Campus was held on Friday, October 12, 2012. The celebration of the completion of this important project kicked off the next stage of wilderness medicine education.

A Unique Facility for a Vital Institution

In keeping with our school values of sustainability and environmental stewardship, our new campus will have a high level of energy efficiency through high performance building design, rainwater collection, and active and passive solar energy gain. This will concentrate our direct impact to a small portion of the 243-acre property, conserving the rest as open space.

Completed in the fall of 2012, the Wyss Wilderness Medicine Campus will provide classrooms, practice fields, residences and dining facilities for 430 WMI students and 40 instructors during the first year of use. With over twenty years of experience, we know what attributes a state of the art wilderness medicine facility should have, and ours is specifically crafted to aid in the delivery of the very best wilderness medicine training. The design also includes a plan to accommodate program growth and development over the long term.

For over twenty years the Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS has been the leader in wilderness medicine education. More than 100,000 students have attended our courses and gained the skills they need to respond to medical emergencies in the backcountry and at home.
