Job Title: Wilderness Medicine Institute Marketing Internship

Reports to: Leslie van Barselaar, WMI Marketing Coordinator

Position Length: 6 month position spanning mid-October through May. Winter break dates are negotiable.

Work Location: NOLS International Headquarters, Lander, WY

Compensation: $100/week

Job Description: The Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS Marketing Internship is a six-month introduction to marketing, writing, photo management, and conference management and logistics at an international nonprofit organization. The internship provides an opportunity for a range of writing and marketing projects. Candidates must have strong writing and organizational abilities plus bring an enthusiasm for communicating in an effective and lively manner.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • English, creative writing, or journalism degree or related experience preferred
  • Experience with Acrobat Professional, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, and Filemaker Pro a plus
  • WMI graduate preferred

Regular Projects:

  • Writing articles for WMI eNews (6x/year)
  • Writing press releases and blog entries about WMI events and alumni
  • Writing sales copy for WMI promotional materials
  • Photo archiving and organization
  • Involved with all aspects of WMI marketing operations, including web research, fact checking, interviews for eNews or blogs, conferences, logistics packaging and shipping, and data management.
  • Other administrative duties for the WMI department as assigned
