Job Description: Farm, property maintenance, sustainability

Position Location: NOLS Patagonia, Coyhaique, XI region, Chile

Position Length: 4 months

Compensation: $50 per week. All lodging and food staples provided.

Regular Projects:
· Landscaping projects on the branch property
· Outreach projects – making contacts with local farmers in order to expand our self-production of organic products from NOLS farm
· Work with farm manager on creating a list/ system for seasonal projects, for NOLS farm sustainability
· Work in the green house to grow vegetables for the cookhouse (Quincho) throughout the season.
· Work with animal (sheep, cattle, horses and chickens)
· Work and create a efficient system with farm compost ideas
· Driving tractor, splitting firewood, feeding cattle and chickens
· Ability in problem solving with farm project in general
· Support other departments during high season such as kitchen and equipment.
·
Preferred Skills:
· Supervisors speak Spanish only
· NOLS grad
· Practical skills in any of the above project areas would be important in order to bring new ideas for the farm manager
· Experience of living in remote areas and interact with a intercultural community
· Tolerant with in the work environment and open to work and learn in an different language

Additional Comments:
Applicants need to be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal task supervision. They should have a specific skill or interest in one of the above areas or some other skill that they think could benefit the branch. Applicants without Spanish language skills are not encouraged to apply.
