JOB TITLE: Senior Graphic Designer
REPORTS TO: Creative Director
The Senior Graphic Designer acts as a designer and an art director, supervises and provides project management for the design team, oversees the NOLS brand, and is responsible for taking visual design projects from conception to production.
Candidates ideally have a degree in graphic design, 2-4 years of professional experience, with experience in recruiting, managing, and supervising a team of graphic designers. A strong understanding of the NOLS mission and culture, advanced expertise of design software, and experience creating high-quality print-ready files are a must. Interest in outdoor education and environmental ethics is a plus. NOLS grads preferred.
Success in this role requires strong ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, get along well with others, and have stellar communication and organizational skills. Also must have the ability to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY DUTIES: Supervise, mentor, and provide direction for two full-time graphic designers and two design interns. This position is also responsible for negotiating bids with printers and keeping our print projects on budget.
The Senior Graphic Designer is also responsible for project management including establishing project schedules, assigning projects to the design team, ensuring project deadlines are met, and connecting the design team with internal clients.
50% Project planning, art direction, project management, and administrative duties
40% Design and Brand Oversight
5% Recruiting, screening, and hiring designers and design interns
5% Prepress production and working with printer vendors
