JOB TITLE: Programmer
REPORTS TO: Director of Information Services
JOB OBJECTIVE: To create and maintain quality software applications to support NOLS and its customers.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or MIS is preferred, or minimum 3 years experience, or equivalent education and experience. The job requires full software lifecycle activities including analysis, design, testing, documentation, configuration management, and automated deployment. Strong skills in at least two of the following areas are required: Python, JavaScript, SQL, Unix shell scripting, or HTML/CSS. All work is done in Unix environment (Max OS X and RedHat).
LEADERSHIP OR SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
Leadership in this position will primarily be self-leadership.
FUNDS AND/OR PROPERTY:
Will participate in the decisions to purchase software development related assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Create and improve custom software for enrolling students, scheduling courses, contracting field staff and other logistical support. Work with project stakeholders to determine which tasks will deliver greatest benefits. Deliver quality software products on schedule, using Scrum or other agile development techniques. Work closely with other members of the information systems team to ensure appropriate development of software applications that execute within the existing and planned IS infrastructure.
