JOB TITLE:  NOLS Patagonia Assistant Director
 

REPORTS TO:  NOLS Patagonia Director
 

JOB OBJECTIVE:  Oversee the implementation of all course operations in accord with the NOLS Patagonia vision and school-wide strategic goals. Coordinate with director to ensure NOLS program quality and promote student, and field and in-town staff satisfaction. Collaborate with both NOLS staff and Chilean educational, governmental, and financial agencies to guarantee overall successful functioning of NOLS Patagonia.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be fully bilingual in Spanish and English. This position requires a creative, energetic person with strong organizational skills, who is self-motivated, as well as adaptable and patient. Mediation and conflict resolution skills are essential. Practical experience with NOLS Patagonia operations is extremely helpful. NOLS instructor certification preferred. Experience in staff management and working with budgets preferred. Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule, working weekends and/or holidays, as needed, is essential.

LEADERSHIP/ SUPERVISORY DUTIES:  Responsible for all aspects of NOLS Patagonia course logistics and operations (including equipment, rations & kitchen). Oversee the functions of various NOLS Patagonia support staff as well as the living and working environment at NOLS Patagonia. May be responsible for NOLS Patagonia public policy, immigration, permits maintenance, Spanish programs, and limited finance and accounting.

FUNDS AND/OR PROPERTY: Responsible for operations budgets including rations, outfitting, private services, and kitchen which total ~$250,000 USD in expenses and ~$100,000 USD in revenues.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

40%            Oversee all aspects of NOLS Patagonia operating logistics, including scheduling, planning, support, and development of all course operations.

40%     Direct supervision and budgetary responsibilities for up to 12 in-town staff.

10%             Support NOLS Spanish Programs’ coordination, program vision, curriculum, development, and scholarship program.

10%     Assist Director with overall vision and detail of NOLS Patagonia.

    

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK:

A criminal background check is required from all NOLS employees.

WORK LOCATION:  Coyhaique, Chile.
