JOB TITLE: Graphic Designer
REPORTS TO: Senior Graphic Designer
JOB OBJECTIVE: The graphic designer will be responsible for the design and production of various NOLS publications, including prepress and preflighting files for print-ready output. The graphic designer will work in conjunction with the senior graphic designer and will be responsible for upholding the NOLS brand standards. This person will also work collaboratively with the creative team to contribute to the creative vision and implementation of NOLS marketing strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS: Desired candidates will have a degree in graphic design or related field and will display a strong interest in print design. Must have demonstrated expertise with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Working on digital files in a print production environment is essential. Comprehensive knowledge of typography, color management, document structure and manipulation, file management, preflighting and collecting files for output is also necessary to be successful in this role. A solid writing background is preferred. Strong photo editing skills are necessary and experience with photo database systems is a plus. Strong time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, and strong communication skills are essential for success in this role. Web design and/or video production experience is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 50% - Prepress production of routine NOLS publications for print output, including design updates, file maintenance, and working with printer vendors.
- 30% - riginal graphic design of new NOLS print pieces and collaboration of creative vision and production on projects as assigned.
- 10% - Photo submission intake (including paperwork, metadata check, organizing for upload, etc.) and photo use payments. Management of the photo database may be required.
- 10% - Project planning, art direction and project management
