JOB TITLE: Field Staff Coordinator - Lander, WY - former and current NOLS employees only, please.

REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Human Resources

JOB OBJECTIVE: The field staff coordinator works with NOLS field instructors, program supervisors, and branch directors in the day-to-day and seasonal hiring of NOLS field staff.

QUALIFICATIONS: NOLS field experience recommended, senior staff preferred. Excellent communication and organization skills are extremely important. Prior management experience is desirable. Flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to deal with pressure in a positive way are necessary. We recognize the importance of having a range of expertise in the office. Knowledge of programs such as whitewater boating, caving, sailing and sea kayaking are a plus. The staffing office is a team environment that is solution-oriented. We are looking for someone who wants to be a part of that team.

LEADERSHIP OR SUPERVISORY DUTIES: Member of a team consisting of three field staff coordinators, the staff development coordinator, the staffing operations coordinator, and the associate director of human resources who oversees the hiring, development, performance, and promotion of over 500 field staff.

FUNDS AND/OR PROPERTY: Obligates NOLS funds as a signer of field staff employment agreements.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The amount of office time will be approximately 75% of full time with the balance of time spent as a field instructor, or optionally on unpaid leave. This percentage may go up or down in subsequent years, as the team works together to build an office schedule that works for everyone.

General position responsibilities are listed below:
· Manages daily hiring of field staff ensuring quality staff for each course.
· Communicates regularly with program supervisors, and branch directors.
· Tracks staff performance by reading Staff Performance Evaluations.
· Develops seasonal hiring plans; compiles WRAP sheet information, writes employee agreements and corresponds with field staff.
· Communicates with staff via informal open door policy, phone, e-mail, forums and Newsletter articles.
· Provides mentoring and coaching to staff on career development.
· Involved with recruitment process- IC reviews, IC briefings and performs post IC student interviews. Assists in prioritizing seminar participants.
Approximately 25% works as a field instructor (or optionally on unpaid leave).
