JOB TITLE:  Rocky Mountain Utah River Base Driver/Outfitting Assistant (Vernal, UT)
 
REPORTS TO:  Rocky Mountain Utah River Base Manager
 
COMPENSATION:  Full Time; Seasonal - April–September; Hourly; Starting Wage - $10.00/hr.; Room provided; Meals provided when courses in town
 
JOB OBJECTIVE:  Provide driving and mechanical support for all NOLS courses utilizing the River Base, as required.  Perform and manage vehicle maintenance for all vehicles and trailers in the program and document all services.    Provide support to the River Base Manager in the daily operations of transportation.  Share course driving responsibilities with other NOLS staff.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:  Ability to do a variety of maintenance task, strong communication and organizational skills along with creativity and problem solving ability are crucial. A good driving record a must and CDL may be required. Thorough knowledge of rafting, kayaking and canoeing equipment use and its repair is desired.
 
LEADERSHIP OR SUPERVISORY DUTIES:  Manage daily transportation logistics in conjunction with the base manager.  Supervise and guide instructional staff in vehicle use and choice. 
 
FUNDS AND/OR PROPERTY:  Responsible for inventory and repair of all River Base vehicles.  Inspect NOLS vehicles for operational safety.  Responsible for maintenance and up keep of all NOLS owned and rental property.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

65%            Share course transportation and logistics tasks with other NOLS staff.  Perform light maintenance on NOLS vehicles and inspections for safe operational status.

25%            Provide support to River Base Manager in organizing base facilities and building maintenance, as required.  Includes fabrication of custom objects useful for the base.

5%            Inventory and repair of outfitting equipment and supplies.
 
5%             Special projects, as delegated by the Base Manager.
