JOB TITLE: NOLS Alumni Programs Coordinator

NOTE: This position is full time with potential limited field or wilderness medicine work.

REPORTS TO: NOLS Alumni Relations Director

JOB OBJECTIVE: The alumni programs coordinator is responsible for the global development, marketing, management and execution of NOLS alumni trips and special events that offer continuing education and a continued NOLS connection.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates must possess a firm understanding of NOLS curriculum and mission, and have the ability to represent all aspects of NOLS to internal and external audiences. This position requires the ability to work independently and to prioritize multiple duties. Strong communication, planning and logistical skills are essential. Required skills include knowledge of database applications, Word, Excel, and social network proficiency. Preferred skills include varied NOLS course leader experience; program supervisor experience, first aid and CPR certification; web editing and writing skills. Qualified NOLS graduates are urged to apply.

LEADERSHIP OR SUPERVISORY DUTIES: This position networks internally with alumni relations staff, development, recruitment, staffing, and location coordinators, and externally with cooperating groups and vendors to design, implement and manage trips, seminars and special events. Position duties include budget management, marketing and promotion, planning, enrollment of participants, customer service, staffing, instructor supervision, record maintenance, and risk management details. This position may supervise the Alumni Guide and contribute to other NOLS publications. The position often supervises seasonal interns and alumni trip field staff.

FUNDS AND/OR PROPERTY: Tracks and administers a budget of approximately $300K.


70% - Execute the planning, staffing, risk management, logistics, marketing, enrollment, customer service, evaluation and follow-up for planned and custom alumni trips. Coordinate events with various NOLS HQ offices, locations, alumni associations, and outfitters around the world. Organize and review field paperwork and coordinate evacuations. Brief and debrief instructors. Follow up on communications with event participants.

20% - NOLS alumni website editing, creation of articles, marketing materials and database documentation. Seasonal supervision of department intern.

10% - Track financial details, enrollment trends and budget projections. Other duties as assigned, including some event-oriented travel.

WORK LOCATION: NOLS World Headquarters, Lander, Wyo.
