Scott has been the Director of Administration and Program Outreach since 2006.
He supervises the NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute and NOLS Professional training, as well as the NOLS Human Resources and Inclusion, Risk Management, Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability, Curriculum and Research, departments. He is also the liaison for legal issues at NOLS.
Scott is also a senior field instructor. His primary areas of field work are rock climbing, mountaineering, and instructor courses.
Scott has worked at NOLS since 1996 and most previously directed the NOLS Southwest branch from 2002 to 2006. Prior to his time in the Southwest, he held a staffing coordinator position from 1999 to 2002.
Prior to his employment at NOLS, Scott was an active attorney for five years working for a law firm in Portland, Maine. His educational background include a juris doctorate, cum laude, from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1990 and an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Maine (with distinction) in 1986.
Scott continues to enjoy his passion for the outdoors including rock climbing and road biking.
