Peter J. Levine

Peter is currently a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, a high tech Bay Area venture capital firm that supports entrepreneurs from angel investments to large-scale funding.
Peter spent his first several years of his career as a software engineer at MIT’s Project Athena. He then went on to join VERITAS Software at its inception. During his 11-year tenure, as an Executive Vice President, Peter helped grow the organization from zero revenue to more than $1.5 billion, and from a handful of employees to more than 6,000.
From 2001-2005, Levine was Managing Director at the Mayfield Fund, a Silicon Valley early stage venture capital firm.
Peter joined XenSource, an infrastructure software company, in early 2006 as chief executive officer. Peter oversaw the $500 million acquisition of the company by Citrix Systems in 2007. Levine then served as senior vice president and general manager of the Datacenter and Cloud Division, focusing on the delivery of networking, virtualization and cloud computing solutions.
Levine holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Boston University and attended the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
Peter is currently a lecturer of marketing at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB), serves on the Board of Trustees at Boston University, serves on the Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council at MIT, and is president of the Adirondack Scholarship Foundation.
Peter is a NOLS graduate and an avid hiker, mountain biker, and ice climber.
He lives with his wife, Martha, and their two children in Santa Barbara, California.
