Monica a three-time NOLS grad was recently elected to the NOLS Board of Trustees. She is looking forward to serving the school the next six years. This summer Monica will be hiking the Wonderland Trail…a circumnavigation of Mt. Ranier.

Monica as Vice President of Finance and Administration at Portland State University oversees financial management, budget planning, facilities, business affairs, information technologies, public safety, auxiliaries and general operations at PSU; an urban research university of over 29,000 students and 4,000 employees. She provides leadership on a variety of initiatives: from strategic enrollment management, the development of a new budget model, the expansion and development of the University District, managing Portland State’s extensive and diverse real estate portfolio and the cultivation of public-private partnerships.

Monica’s career spans over 20 years with experience in both education and law. Before arriving in Portland, Monica held the position of Senior Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. She also concurrently served as Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance and Interim President at the University of Cincinnati.  Previous to her career in higher education, she was a Legal Associate in Illinois and Wisconsin, Assistant City Attorney for the City of Milwaukee and Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern district of Wisconsin. Monica holds a Juris Doctorate and a Bachelor of Arts from  the University of Michigan.
