Jonathan Kleisner
Term: June 2010 – June 2016
NOLS Courses: 2006 Patagonia Backpacking and Fly-Fishing, 2008 Mt. Rainier
A retired hedge fund manager, Jonathan is a member of the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE Futures US) and serves as Chairman of the Business Conduct Committee - the exchange's adjudicatory body. Jonathan currently serves as a public board director for ICE Clear US Inc. (NYSE:ICE).
In July 2012, Jonathan graduated the FDNY EMS Academy as an EMT Rescuer and has been assigned to the renowned FDNY Station 19 in the Central/South Bronx - the busiest EMS station in New York City.
Notably, this latest adventure began when Jonathan as a NOLS student was stuck sitting in a tent in Patagonia for three days in the pouring rain with nothing to read except the mandatory medical manual. An incredible and life changing experience for Jonathan, he says, “I owe NOLS a great debt for just giving me the ability to say ‘Why Not?’”
When not on the trading floor or riding ambulances, Jonathan can be found tending to his apiaries (beehives) at his farm in the Catskills and training as a triathlete—recently completing the Ironman France and the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco.
Jonathan served as a member of the NOLS Advisory Council from 2008–2010 and as Co-Chair of the NOLS Advisory Council from 2010 to 2012.
