Jay Jacobs

From 1995 until 2010, Jay worked for Summer Search, a national youth leadership program serving low-income high school students in seven cities throughout the United States. Jay was originally the founder and executive director of Summer Search Boston. In 2002, Jay moved west to San Francisco to serve as CEO, where he oversaw the launching of new Summer Search programs in New York, Seattle, Silicon Valley, and Philadelphia. After Summer Search, Jay joined Basic American Foods, a family business where he currently serves as Director, Industrial and International Business.
Jay holds a bachelor degree in political science from Macalester College, a master’s degree in theological studies from Harvard Divinity School and an M.B.A. from the U.C. Berkeley - Columbia University Joint MBA program. In addition to NOLS, Jay serves on the boards of the Foundation for Teaching Economics and Marin Country Day School. Jay lives in Mill Valley with his wife, Liz, and sons, Oliver and Thayer. Liz is also a NOLS alumna and they hope to be NOLS parents in the near future.
