Douglas E. Dalquist

NOLS Courses: 1968 Wilderness Expedition, 1970 Wind River Wilderness, 1970 Wind River Biology, 1971 Mountain Instructors Course. Doug has taught courses from 1971 to the current date and participated in many Board trips and alumni events.
Current NOLS instructor Doug Dalquist was elected to the NOLS Board of Trustees in June 2006. He first came to NOLS as a student on a Wilderness Expedition course and has since worked in every decade of the school’s history.
Doug has a degree in physics from Michigan State University. He has instructed for Outward Bound in the United States, Canada, and Australia, as well as a number of other outdoor programs, including two of his own devising.
For rest and relaxation, Doug climbs mountains, including Everest, K2, Denali, and the volcanoes of Mexico. Doug and his wife, Donja, currently live in Victoria, British Columbia, with their three children: a son and two daughters.
