Amy E. Wyss
Elected to the NOLS Board : June 2007
NOLS Graduate: 1987 Wind River Mountaineering; 1997 India Mountaineering
Amy is a graduate of two NOLS courses: Wind River Wilderness in 1987 and a 1997 India Mountaineering Course. She is certified as a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician. Amy was elected to serve on the NOLS Board in June 2007.
Amy graduated from Skidmore College with bachelor’s degrees in both government and art history.
Amy is the owner of a small business in Taos, New Mexico…a toy store with community outreach. She is active in leading several non-profit organizations. She is a founding board member of Golden Willows Retreat, a grief-counseling center in New Mexico.
Amy serves on the Board of the Wyss Foundation, a charitable foundation dedicated to land conservation in the Intermountain West. The Wyss Foundation supports a variety of conservation and community organizations, as well as scholarships and fellowships to support the next generation of leaders on western land conservation. Also, Amy is on the board of Synthes, a company which develops and produces instruments, implants, and biomaterials for the surgical fixation, correction, and regeneration of the skeleton and its soft tissues.
Amy resides in Wyoming where she and her husband, Ed Jaramillo, are raising their two sons. Prior to focusing on her children and after a stint as a ski school instructor Amy worked as a trip planner for Butterfield & Robinson. She was actively involved as a volunteer for the Rocky Mountain Youth Corp. Amy continues to be active in outdoor pursuits.
